The Morrow Turnover Sale

For 93 years, Maplewood has had a tradition unlike any other. What started as a modest church rummage sale has grown into a community institution so beloved that a Star-Ledger reporter once called it "Maplewood's Miracle on Baker Street."

Last year's 92nd sale set an all-time record, with $106,687 in total sales and more than $90,000 donated to charities across Northern New Jersey and beyond. Our 93rd Sale kicks off June 25. Some things just get better with age.

2026 Sale Days

Thursday, June 25, 7 pm – 9 pm

Saturday, June 27, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

Tuesday, June 30, 7 pm – 9 pm

Thursday, July 2, 7 pm – 9 pm

Tuesday, July 7, 7 pm – 9 pm

Thursday, July 9, 7 pm – 9 pm

Saturday, July 11, 9:30 am – noon

2026 Drop-Off Details

Drop-Off Dates: June 13 – July 6
Books will be accepted through June 24.

Drop-Off Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9 AM - 3 PM

No drop off on Tuesday or Thursday sale days
(June 25, 30 and July 2)

Drop off on Saturday, June 27 after the sale from 12:30 – 3 pm

Drop off outside these hours can be arranged by calling the church office.

Supporting Charities for 93 Years Strong

For nearly a century, the Morrow Turnover Sale proceeds have been donated to organizations that support women, youth and children locally.

These include:

  • Achieve

  • Back Pack Pals

  • Family Promise

  • Isaiah House

  • Clara Maas Safe House

  • Cougar Cares

  • Columbia High School Scholarship Fund

  • SOMA Parenting Center

  • South Mountain YMCA

  • South Orange Rescue Squad

  • MEND

  • Morrow Church’s programs with youth and children, including the United Methodist Committee on Relief, a healthcare clinic in Haiti, and a school in Sierra Leone.

In 2025 alone, the Morrow Turnover Sale generated $106,687 in sales and over $90k to the causes above.

What Can I Donate?

The list below isn’t exhaustive; if you aren’t sure about donating an item, email us at turnover@morrowchurch.org.

What we accept:

  • Men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories; items in good to excellent condition

  • Jewelry, china, crystal, flatware

  • Small furniture items, rugs, and lamps; items in good to excellent condition

  • Household and kitchen items

  • Toys—games, dolls, action figures, pre-school toys, game tables, child chairs and tables

  • Books (and books on CD), vinyl records, movies on DVD, music on CD

  • Luggage

  • Computers, flat screen monitors (if current technology)

  • Cameras (film and digital)

  • Working flat-screen TVs, DVD players, turntables in any condition, amplifiers and preamplifiers, receivers, speakers, audio systems (if current technology)

  • Electrical—small appliances (irons, toasters, air-fryers, coffee pots, etc.), fans, air conditioners, radios, dorm refrigerators, hair dryers, sewing machines; items should be clean and in good working order

  • Gardening, lawn care, home improvement and snow implements, tools

  • Sporting goods; items in good to excellent condition

  • Collectible items including seasonal and home decorations

  • Art and picture frames

What we cannot accept:

  • Linens, pillows, draperies, and hardware

  • Box springs and mattresses, bed pillows

  • Children’s clothing

  • Child car seats

  • Magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, VHS tapes

  • Printers, computer tube monitors, copiers or fax machines (anything that won’t work with current technology)

  • Humidifiers and dehumidifiers

  • Attic and ceiling fans, unless in the original packaging

  • Exercise machines

  • Skis and ski equipment

  • Built-in appliances and construction materials

  • Appliances that are not in working condition

  • Very large appliances

  • Cribs with sliding sides

  • Entertainment centers, china cabinets (unless pre-approved), and built-in furniture or cabinets

  • Beds, bunk beds, sofa beds, trundle beds, water beds, bed frames, headboards

  • Furniture made of particleboard or formica

  • Large furniture including computer desks

  • Sofas—small, upholstered furniture must be pre-approved

  • Anything flammable or hazardous (gasoline, paint, motor oil)

  • Auto tires, rims, auto radios, batteries
